    Civic-minded local volunteers helped clean the beach at Carnlough Saturday afternoon at low tide. Organised by Larne Borough Council together with Tidy NI, volunteers from the community, including the Carnlough Community Association and the Marine Conservation Society helped to tidy the beach.

Training For Surveying

TIDY Northern Ireland offers training courses to help you assess both how effective your cleansing standards are, as well as ones that concentrate on identifying the littering habits of residents of your borough.

Grading Training (For Supervisors and Cleansing Operatives)

A popular training course, which can be adapted for various grades/scales, helps you to meet required cleansing standards as stipulated in the Litter (Northern Ireland) Order 1994 and its associated Code of Practice on Litter. This short course teaches cleansing operatives about the different cleansing grades and how to identify them. This course can also be adapted for supervisors to help them monitor and guide cleansing operatives in maintaining a clean, safe and pleasant environment.

TIDY Campaigns

TIDY Northern Ireland runs courses that help you develop and run campaigns to reduce the impacts of littering. This course includes information on market research, identifying the audience, the important of behavioural changing advertising, as well as how to monitor and evaluate the success of your campaign. This course can be used in conjunction with pre-existing TIDY Northern Ireland campaigns that you may wish to replicate in your area.

TIDY Business

This course consists of training assessors as part of the TIDY Business Standards Scheme. Candidates are trained how to audit businesses using a pre-determined list of criteria concerning both legislation and enhanced townscape features.

TIDY Communities

This is a community empowerment-training course. Training is given to Action Teams from communities to teach them how to assess their own environment and identify existing problems. It teaches them how to use this information to develop action plans and monitor their implementation. The outcome of this training leads to residents taking more responsibility for their communities as well as improvements to local environmental quality.
