  • Beach Clean at Carnlough attracts eager volunteers
    Civic-minded local volunteers helped clean the beach at Carnlough Saturday afternoon at low tide. Organised by Larne Borough Council together with Tidy NI, volunteers from the community, including the Carnlough Community Association and the Marine Conservation Society helped to tidy the beach.
  • Beach Clean Boosts Nicholson's Strand Award Hopes
    A car door, a bicycle and a plastic bottle washed ashore from Holland were among the more unusual items removed from Nicholson's Strand, Kilkeel during a recent litter pick organised by TIDY Northern Ireland.

16th August: Clean up at Cranfield West

TIDY Northern Ireland will be joining in with the Marine Festival on Saturday the 16th to do a beach clean along Cranfield Bay. The event will be part of the family fun day organised by the Cranfield Caravan Park Residents Association. There will be lots to do including Amusements by Dizzyland, Face Painting, 'Penalty Shoot Competition' all accompanied by live music with 'Perfect Remedy'. Mourne Coastal Tours will, weather permitting, have a boat available offering trips around the Haulbowline Lighthouse. Refreshments will be provided by Coca-Cola Bottlers (Ulster) Ltd. as they are the sponsors of the Clean Coast Programme. Everything will kick off at 10am and will be finished at aroufn 2:30pm. Hope to see you there!

23rd August: Clean up at Loughshore Park

TIDY Northern Ireland will be joining in with the Shoreline Festival at Loughshore on Saturday the 23rd of August to help clean up the beach. The festival organised by Newtownabbey Borough Council will also include the world famous Dojo Drummers from the Mugen Taiko Dojo, the UK centre for Taiko Drumming. Performing at festivals and special events throughout the UK and beyond, the Dojo Drummers have stunned audiences everywhere with their exhilarating rhythems, energetic movement, fiery spirit and charismatic performance. Also on stage will be Northern Ireland group Different Drums and drummers from the really rubbish orchestra. The festival is free and will begin at 3:00pm.

Marine Conservation Society's Beachwatch

Beachwatch is an annual nationwide clean up and litter survey. It takes place once a year over the third weekend of september. If you want to do just one beach clean and survey in the year, then this is the time to do it.
